My Christmas Shoes

My Christmas Shoes

By Ambree Since the beginning of December I have been thinking of ways I could make Christmas more memorable.  One of my seminary teachers said “ . . . the best gift to give the Savior is acts of service.” So I decided this Christmas I want to give the Savior the gift of service. A few days ago my friend and I decided to go get ice cream cones. As we stood in line talking about our day, we slowly moved up to the cashier who told us that the guy in front…Read more …
Why Your Love Can’t Wait

Why Your Love Can’t Wait

By Maddie I absolutely love Christmas time. It makes me so happy having so many opportunities to serve my friends and family, and even strangers. Every Christmas my family chooses someone that we think needs some love at Christmas time. Last year, we chose our Great Grandma Jackie. We decided to do the twelve days of Christmas for her, but she lived in Florida so we had to plan ahead, and ship the gifts to her. For each day we tried to pick something meaningful to send to her. Some of the days…Read more …
What’s Your Part?

What’s Your Part?

By Rachel/ Image credit: cbmusic.com One of the ways I am able to invite the Christmas Spirit into my life is through music. I love the traditional Christmas songs that remind us of the Savior and His purpose on earth. However, there is one not-so-traditional Christmas song I feel perfectly explains our part in Christmas. It may not be a typical Christmas song, but it is powerful! The lyrics read: “There are times when you might feel aimless And can't see the places, where you belong. But you will find that there is a…Read more …
Seven Reasons to Celebrate

Seven Reasons to Celebrate

By Kaity/ Photo credit: lds.org This Christmas season I celebrate because He knows me. I celebrate because He fixes all that is broken. I celebrate because thanks to Him, goodbyes aren't forever. I celebrate because He brings me comfort, peace, and happiness. I celebrate because He gives me a second chance. I celebrate because through Him, we can return home to live with our Heavenly Father. I celebrate because a Savior was born.Read more …
Why the Shepherds?

Why the Shepherds?

By Linclon One of my favorite aspects of Christmas is the Nativity scene. I love to see Mary and Joseph, the loving parents of our Savior. Baby Jesus lays swaddled in a manger, surrounded by animals. The three wise men are nearby with their gifts for the Lord, and a new star rests gently above the scene. Each one of these characters is so special to the nativity. But my personal favorite is the shepherds who came to see the Savior. The story of the shepherds is special to me and they've gained more…Read more …
Why Do You Need a Savior?

Why Do You Need a Savior?

By Megan As I was walking around Temple Square in Salt Lake City a few days ago, I came across a sign. The sign read, "Hope is born, joy is born, peace is born. A Savior is Born." I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed. Here was this poster, nice and simple, containing little words. Yet, these little words shared so much meaning. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints recently released a video called, "Why We Need A Savior." As part of family home evening, my family and watched it and talked about…Read more …
Keeping Christ in Christmas

Keeping Christ in Christmas

By Kyle/ Photo Credit: Mormon.org/christmas Christmastime is upon us. It’s a time to be with family, give to others and, most important of all, celebrate the birth of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. It’s such a beautiful time of year. Wherever you look, visit, explore, the holiday season brings a feeling like no other.  If you think about it, the world seems to be most united at this time. From just before Thanksgiving to January, all people really seem to want to do is give and spend time with people that make…Read more …
How Firm is Your Foundation?

How Firm is Your Foundation?

By Whitney Do you remember the story about the wise man and the foolish man? The wise man built his house upon a rock and the foolish man built his upon the sand. And when the rain came the wise man's stood still, and the foolish man's was washed away.  The lesson from the story is that it is important to have a strong foundation. We can apply this to our lives in many ways. Usually we cannot see the foundation of a house. It is typically hidden under the ground. A small…Read more …
The Scar

The Scar

By Kelci At the beginning of this past summer, I split my lip open playing catch. My hair was braided, I was wearing a tie dye t-shirt, it was probably around 8 o’clock because the sun was just starting to go down. We were on my front lawn playing catch with a bright yellow softball. It hit my face, and initially I didn’t feel any pain. I said “ow”, closed my eyes and tried not to cry. I noticed a metallic, salty taste in my mouth and when I spit it out I…Read more …
