The 185th Semiannual General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is almost here!
The First Presidency, members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and other General Authorities and general officers of the Church will deliver messages of inspiration and guidance.
Are you ready? We asked a few of our Digital Missionaries to share their thoughts on Conference. You can read their experiences and advice below. You can also prepare personally by following the advice given here.
Learn how you can watch General Conference live here.
I feel that as I watch conference the speakers aren’t speaking to my mind but more to my soul. All of the messages are edifying and uplifting, but when I pray and have a question in mind beforehand, my soul is enlightened and there is always a talk that was meant exactly for me. We get more out of it when we put more effort in.
I always look forward to General Conference. I always hear something that feels like it was said just for me. I love the spirit that it brings in to my life. General Conference is the time that I try to reevaluate my life, and make goals that align with God’s plan for me.
One of my family traditions for conference is going to the grocery store the Friday before and buying all of our favorite snacks and drinks. It makes conference that much more enjoyable!
I look forward to Conference every year because it is a day that we just get to relax on the Sabbath and listen to the latter-day prophet and apostles give us messages from our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Every time I listen to a conference talk I feel the love of my Savior and that is the greatest blessing of them all. I absolutely love Conference, I can not wait to hear what the Lord has in store for us!!
General Conference is easy to take for granted. From a superficial point of view it is just a bunch of people talking for a long time. However, if you can get past your natural tendencies to feel bored or to think that other things are more important, then you can come to the wonderful realization of how true and applicable the messages are.
I can testify that what the prophet and apostles teach is true. In my times of trial and need, the messages from conference have been extremely strengthening and a blessing. I love conference! and the greatest part is that it is meant for YOU. No matter how big or small your testimony is. It’s meant for every single one of us.
The scriptures describe the Holy Ghost as a still small voice, and teach us we need to be spiritually ready and willing to listen in order to hear and feel it. I feel that is especially true for conference. When I remember God said, “Whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same,” (D&C 1:38) I am more willing to listen to and act upon the teachings at conference. So this weekend I hope we can all tune into General Conference and be in tune with the Spirit. “And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.” (Moroni 10:5)
