Just a Little

It’s the beginning of a new year. A time to reevaluate and make new goals. I’ve been thinking about this a lot this past year, and today I was reminded of something the late prophet LDS prophet Gordon B. Hinckley urged us all to do: “Try a little harder to be a little better.”

This is my goal for the year: Try a little harder to be a little better.

This can be applied to many different parts of our lives. Whether it’s trying to be better at scripture study, or trying to work harder at swim practice. Trying to smile more or trying to get more sleep. Whatever it is that you want to work on this year, I encourage you to try a little harder to be a little better.

If you’re not sure what it is you want to work on, take the advice from Matthew 19 and ask God, “what lack I yet?” I promise that if you will ask with a sincere heart, He will hear and answer you.

If you are struggling with what you have chosen to work on, pray for help and you will be strengthened.

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13

What are your goals for the year?

Thank you for this needful reminder! Sometimes my weaknesses feel overwhelming! I am grateful I don’t have to be perfect now. Just a little extra effort each day makes a difference. Small and simple is the answer in more ways than one! 🙂

Great advice Whitney! Sometimes big changes are urgently needed, but for the most part constant, incremental progress will get us where we need to be.
