“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
This is my all time favorite scripture. I love it because of the message it shares. It teaches about trust and faith in the Lord. If we have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, then he can direct our life in the way that will be most beneficial to us. Sometimes faith may be difficult but it will always be worth it. If we merely believe in Him and trust in all of His doings, He will take care of us.
Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is a huge part of my life, my testimony, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. To have faith in Christ means relying completely on him – trusting in His infinite power, intelligence, and love. It also means that you believe in His teachings. To have faith in Christ means believing that even though you do not understand all things, He does. He is always ready to help you as you remember His plea: “Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not”(D&C 6:36)
I know that when times of trouble and trials come, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ can give you the courage and strength that you need to press forward. I have had many experiences that have helped me obtain this knowledge. The trial that has helped me strengthen my faith the most took place around a year ago. My family and I had to move across the country for my father’s job. I had to say goodbye to everything I had come to know and love. New friends. A new house. A new neighborhood. A new school. A new life. Once I found out that we were moving, I became extremely stubborn. I did not know what to do with myself or how to cope with the situation. I was scared of the future and became very sad and lonely…. This is when I truly came to know my Savior. He became my best friend. After moving into our new house I immediately began making new friends and loving my new life. I have had a wonderful past year living in my new home. My neighborhood is so friendly, I love my high school, and I have the best group of righteous and trustworthy friends. Looking back on this experience has given me such a strong faith in my Heavenly Father. I now know that he will truly “direct”our paths and that He will look out for me, you, and everyone of His children. I know that with faith, even the hardest times can be a blessing.
“There are times when we have to step into the darkness in faith, confident that God will place solid ground beneath our feet once we do”
