Inspired by an Ancestor

Inspired by an Ancestor

By: Kade Kleinman Hello everyone.  My name is Kade Kleinman.  I am 17 years old and I love to mountain bike and rock climb.  Three years ago I had the opportunity to go on Ranger Trek for our scout High Adventure camp.  It was a fifty mile backpacking trip up in the Uintah Mountains and I had an amazing time!  I went with some of the scouts and leaders in my ward and had experiences I will never forget. I learned many skills up in those mountains that have helped me in my…Read more …
I Know that Jesus is The Christ

I Know that Jesus is The Christ

By Joe The Articles of Faith outline 13 basic points of belief of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The fourth Article of Faith states, “We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ…”  Notice, the first principle of the first principles of the gospel is faith in Christ.  The Book of Mormon may be the keystone to the LDS religion, but faith in Christ is the cornerstone, trusses, and framework. Gaining a testimony of Christ is difficult and so is keeping…Read more …
Healthy Body, Mind and Faith

Healthy Body, Mind and Faith

By Ben/Photo Credit: twincities.com Keeping our bodies healthy is very important.  That doesn’t mean just having a healthy physical body but an emotionally healthy spirit as well.  We can always work on something even if we think we are doing well.  Life is hard and can sometimes get the best of us; we need to be ready for trials in all aspects of life. I have been extremely blessed competing in a sport that includes 17-inch blades and physically demanding exercises that make most people hold their backs in pain just watching.  This…Read more …
My Turn at the Crossroads

My Turn at the Crossroads

By Lincoln As I near my 18th birthday, I’ve been overwhelmed with the many decisions I’m faced with as part of growing up. Decisions such as where I want to go to school, what I want to study, and what I want to be when I grow up are some of the questions I've frequently considered during the first few months of my senior year of high school. There are a lot of decisions I’ll have to make over the next few years, and some of them will influence the rest of my life. One of…Read more …
Our Longing for Proof

Our Longing for Proof

By Isaac We live in a world of growth. With technological advancements running rampant, our society has developed a new attitude: a need for proof. People require proof of something before they can believe in it. This is good for us! With everyone needing a sense of truth to everything they believe, it has become easy to weed out incorrect statements and ideas. It has become easier in some instances to sort out what's true and what's false. As good as this longing for proof may be, a great deal of people have been incorrectly…Read more …
On Your Own, But Not Alone

On Your Own, But Not Alone

By Kaitlyn B. With school starting up again I have been reflecting on all the changes this school year will bring, and all my new responsibilities. I have felt very overwhelmed and I've wondered how I will be able to keep up with my school work and all my extra curricular activities, and work, and between all that trying to find time to spend with family and friends. After one long day at school I decided I needed to take a step back and look at the big picture. What really matters? As I…Read more …
Lessons I Learned on a Mountain

Lessons I Learned on a Mountain

By Tommy Four weeks ago, I left with my brother to go to Philmont Scout Ranch, the largest scout ranch in the world. We didn’t know the troop we were leaving with because they were part of my uncle's ward. The camp was two weeks long and we hiked 65 miles in total. It was hard, but it was also one of the best experiences of my life. My brother and I learned a lot of lessons I feel are essential to personal conversion. Lesson 1: Nature is awesome. I wish I spent more…Read more …
No Such Thing as Coincidence

No Such Thing as Coincidence

By Lincoln This past week, I had an experience that helped my faith and strengthened my assurance that God knows and loves each of us. Last Tuesday, I was planning on going to the my local LDS temple after school to do baptisms for the dead. Before my last class of the day, my mom texted me and told me she would be willing to excuse me from school to go to the temple so I could beat the after-school rush. As I pulled into the temple parking lot it was, as I had expected, rather vacant.…Read more …
What is the Armor of God?

What is the Armor of God?

Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. -Ephesians 6 by Whitney In life we need protection. Life is a battle everyday. Our battles may not be the same as ancient ones, but the are just as bad. The Apostle Paul said, "We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against... spiritual wickedness." In this battle we are in, we need to decide now whose side we are on. Richard G. Scott said, "Stay on the Lord's side and you will win…Read more …
Finding Faith in Failure

Finding Faith in Failure

By Guest Blogger Emma We’ve all been down that path. You know, the one where we are feeling so down on ourselves because nothing seems to be going right. Everything seems to being going exactly opposite of what's planned and we can’t see anything but the negative. Sometimes we fail. That’s life. Often times when we’re not successful we look back and start throwing out the “Would-a, could-a, should-a’s.” We start asking ourselves what we could have or should have done better in order to succeed. Maybe you were cut at tryouts for…Read more …
