The Love Our Savior Has For Us

The Love Our Savior Has For Us

By: Kade Lately I have been learning a lot about the atonement of Jesus Christ and his impact in our lives. It has really helped me feel the spirit and think more about the Savior throughout these past few months. Something that has always stuck with me is a quote by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, “It was required, indeed it was central to the significance of the Atonement, that this perfect Son who had never spoken ill nor done wrong nor touched an unclean thing had to know how the rest of humankind—us,…Read more …
I Stand All Amazed

I Stand All Amazed

By Megan/Photo Credit:mckennastendermercies.blogspot.com One of my favorite hymns is “I Stand All Amazed.”  To me, it has the most beautiful words paired with an amazing melody.  It moves me to tears almost every time I sing it.  Why do I love it so much?   Because it is talking about Christ and what He did for me.  Let’s just take a look at the first verse: “I stand all amazed at the love Jesus offers me, confused at the grace that so fully he proffers me.  I tremble to know that for me…Read more …
Lessons From the Pool: The Refiner’s Fire

Lessons From the Pool: The Refiner’s Fire

By Whitney Can I tell you something you might think is strange? When I was on the swim team in high school I always loved it when my coach yelled out her critiques of me during practice. I know that sounds weird, but her critique, her attention, made me feel important. I already knew I was't a perfect swimmer and when she yelled at me I felt like she cared about me; that she was watching me and that she knew I could improve. After every race I  talked to her about my performance. I…Read more …
Learning to Love Me

Learning to Love Me

By Kaitlyn/Image: thoughtcatalog.com I've always wondered why it is so much easier to love all God's other creations than it is to love ourselves. I see other people and I just think what wonderful and beautiful creatures they are. I can look at a waterfall or a sunset and tell God how grateful I am for His creations. Meanwhile whenever I look in the mirror, I cringe and turn away. It's not just me either, it seems as though everyone has this kind of experience, or one similar to it. Why is that?…Read more …
Why Your Love Can’t Wait

Why Your Love Can’t Wait

By Maddie I absolutely love Christmas time. It makes me so happy having so many opportunities to serve my friends and family, and even strangers. Every Christmas my family chooses someone that we think needs some love at Christmas time. Last year, we chose our Great Grandma Jackie. We decided to do the twelve days of Christmas for her, but she lived in Florida so we had to plan ahead, and ship the gifts to her. For each day we tried to pick something meaningful to send to her. Some of the days…Read more …
The Tree

The Tree

By Rachel About three years ago, my mom and I set out to trim a tree in our back yard.  A Weeping Mulberry is an interesting tree.  Instead of branches that grow upward, it has long, spindly branches that cascade toward the ground.   It looks pretty from the outside, but when it is left unpruned it begins to conceal a precarious secret.  As the branches die, they become sharp and knotted together making them very difficult and even dangerous to remove.  In the spring, new growth appears and camouflages the ugly dead branches underneath.  Year…Read more …
The Power of Service

The Power of Service

By Jentri (Photo Credit: lds.org) I like doing service for my elderly neighbor.  I help him with various different things. Some of the things I do for him are smaller than others, but he is always very appreciative of what I do-- whether it's something small or something big. I can always tell he is happy for the help. When I serve people, it not only helps me and makes me happy, but it also helps the person I am serving and also makes them happy. We all have had the opportunity to do service. All…Read more …
My Brother Jacob

My Brother Jacob

By Megan My younger brother, Jake, is 12 years old.  He has an uncommon syndrome called Optiz syndrome.   It is a form of high functioning autism. Let me tell you about Jake.  He’s almost thirteen, but his mind has developed only to around the age of eight.  He goes to junior high but is in a special education class because he doesn’t learn as quickly as others.  He loves to read and enjoys Legos.  He can make amazing trucks and trailers out of those small blocks I could never dream of building.  Legos are his…Read more …
Know Your Worth

Know Your Worth

By Megan Have you ever felt like you aren’t important?  Or that you aren’t beautiful?  These feelings are common for everyone, especially teenagers.  We are constantly fighting a battle against the world.  We are told that in order to be beautiful we have to wear this and look like that.  Our personality has to be a certain way.  The world is throwing so much at us, and it can be overwhelming at times.  It may also be discouraging, causing us to feel worthless. A couple of days ago in seminary, my teacher gave…Read more …
Lost Your Way? Don’t Lose Hope.

Lost Your Way? Don’t Lose Hope.

By Jace Nobody is perfect. At times we all falter.  There will always be something that gets us down at one time or another.  All of us will struggle with something.  But because of the atonement of Jesus Christ, when we do mess up, we don't have to despair.  Through the saving power of Christ's atonement we can all be found pure again. Hebrews 8:12 says "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will remember no more." In Moses 1:39 it reads, “This is my work…Read more …
